FAQs

What does the women's proactive health assessment look for?

It can help detect issues with the reproductive organs, kidneys, bladder, liver, gallbladder or spleen, signs of cancer and signs of inflammation.

Immune Health
Heart Health

Liver Health

Why would I have a uterus, ovaries and pelvic organ scan?

This scan assesses the reproductive organs and surrounding structures. It can help investigate symptoms such as pelvic pain, heavy periods, or bleeding after menopause. It is also used to assess known conditions or monitor findings from previous scans.

Why would I have a breast and armpit scan?

This scan can help spot breast or armpit problems early. It’s useful if you’ve noticed a lump, pain, or other changes. It’s also a good way to keep track of known issues or get reassurance if you’re worried.

Common symptoms include:

• A new breast or armpit lump / swelling
• Pain in the breast or underarm
• Nipple discharge
• Skin dimpling or changes
• Swollen lymph nodes

Are there any risks with these scans?

Our proactive assessments, breast scans and pelvic scans all use ultrasound which is very safe. It uses sound waves, not radiation, and has no known side effects.

How do the blood tests work?

The blood test is carried out at the same appointment as your ultrasound scan, so everything is completed in one visit. The clinician will ask you a few basic questions and then take some blood from a vein in your arm. We will then send this to the lab for analysis and your results alongside a doctor note will come back in approximately 3 days.

What happens during the scans?

You’ll lie back, and a clear gel will be applied to the area being investigated. The doctor will move a small probe over the area. It’s painless and takes about 10–15 minutes.

For transvaginal scans, a small probe is inserted internally to investigate further and usually is not painful. You can say no to the internal scan at any time and end early if you find any discomfort or pain.
