FAQs

Why have a neck lymph node ultrasound?

This scan helps assess lumps or swelling in your neck. It can identify swollen glands and the possible cause, such as infection or something more serious.

What symptoms are related to lymph node issues?

•       Lump or swelling in the neck

•       Tender or painful glands

•       Ongoing sore throat

•       Fever or night sweats

•       Unexplained weight loss

•       Persistent cough

•       Feeling tired or unwell

When should I see a doctor?

See a doctor if a neck lump lasts more than two weeks, feels hard or fixed, or gets bigger. Also seek help if it comes with other symptoms like fever, weight loss, or night sweats.

What happens during the scan?

You’ll lie back while a doctor applies a cool gel and moves a small device across your neck. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes and shouldn’t hurt.

Are there any risks of a neck lymph node ultrasound?

No. The scan is safe and doesn’t affect your body. You can get on with your day as normal.
