FAQs

Why should I have a breast lumps and bumps scan?

If you notice a lump in your breast, it’s best to get it checked. Ultrasound can help show what the lump is, whether it’s a fluid-filled cyst a solid lump, or something else. It gives quick answers and can guide what to do next.

What symptoms are linked to breast lumps and bumps?

You might notice:

●      A lump or thickened area

●      Breast pain or swelling

●      Changes to skin or shape

●      Discharge from the nipple

●      Swelling under your arm

When should I see a doctor?

Get checked if you feel a new lump, if an old lump changes, or if you have ongoing breast pain, skin changes, or any new symptoms. Don’t delay-even if the lump seems small or painless.

Do I need to prepare for the scan?

There’s nothing you need to do beforehand. Try not to use any creams or powders on the chest that day. Wear clothes that make it easy to undress from the top half.

What happens during the scan?

You’ll lie back, and the doctor will apply a clear gel on the breast. A small probe is moved over the area to take images. It’s painless and usually takes around 10–15 minutes.

The doctor will explain the results straight away

Are there any risks of a breast lumps and bumps ultrasound?

No. This scan is safe and non-invasive. It uses sound waves, not radiation, and has no known risks.
