FAQs

Why should I have this scan?

This scan can help spot breast or armpit problems early. It’s useful if you’ve noticed a lump, pain, or other changes. It’s also a good way to keep track of known issues or get reassurance if you’re worried.

What symptoms are linked to breast and armpit problems?

Common symptoms include:

●  A new breast or armpit lump / swelling

●  Pain in the breast or underarm

●  Nipple discharge

●  Skin dimpling or changes

●  Swollen lymph nodes

When should I see a doctor?

See a doctor if you notice a lump, pain, skin changes, or any other new or lasting breast symptoms. Even if they seem minor, it’s best to check.

Do I need to prepare for the scan?

No special preparation is needed. Wear a top that’s easy to remove. Avoid applying creams or powders on the chest before your appointment.

What happens during the scan?

You’ll lie back, and a clear gel will be applied to your breast and underarm. The doctor will move a small probe over the area. It’s painless and takes about 10–15 minutes.

Are there any risks of a breast and armpit ultrasound?

Ultrasound is very safe. It uses sound waves, not radiation. There are no known risks or side effects.
