A testes a scrotum checkup will look for:
This scan is used to assess any concern in or around the testicles and scrotum. It helps identify the cause of pain, swelling, or a lump. It also helps rule out serious conditions like torsion or cancer, and is the best tool to distinguish between harmless and more concerning findings.
• A lump or swelling in one or both testicles
• Pain or aching in the scrotum or groin
• Feeling of heaviness or fullness in the scrotum
• Changes in the size or shape of a testicle
• Redness, warmth or tenderness
• Sudden onset of pain (may suggest torsion - seek emergency care)
• History of trauma or infection
• Infertility concerns
You should seek medical advice if you notice, a new or persistent lump in the testicle, testicular pain that doesn’t improve within a day or two, swelling, redness, or warmth, a testicle that feels harder or different than usual, a sudden, severe pain in the scrotum (requires urgent assessment) or concerns about fertility or previous injury
No preparation is needed. You can eat and drink normally and take any usual medications. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. You may be asked to remove trousers or underwear for the scan, but your comfort and dignity will always be respected.
The blood test is carried out at the same appointment as your ultrasound scan, so everything is completed in one visit. The clinician will ask you a few basic questions and then take some blood from a vein in your arm. We will then send this to the lab for analysis. The time taken for results is specified on the individual blood test pages.
You can view your results on the web portal (provided by email) or by downloading the Forth app.
