What does the blood test include?
We look at 40 biomarkers and these are categorised into key health scores to give a comprehensive view in combination with your scans. All blood tests come with a report and advice from a GMC registered doctor

Why would I need an abdominal ultrasound scan?
The abdomen holds several vitally important organs, and problems in this area can range from inflammation to more serious conditions that warrant further investigation.
What could be the underlying cause of my abdominal pain?
Abdominal pain is common and often harmless, but some causes can be more serious and may need medical or even urgent care.
An abdominal ultrasound is a fast and simple way to look at the main organs in your abdomen. These include the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas, bladder, and spleen.
It can help your doctor find the cause of pain or bloating and check for other problems like kidney stones, tumours, or other signs of disease in the abdominal organs.
When should I see a doctor for my abdominal pain?
Most abdominal pain is mild and goes away on its own. A simple upset stomach, for example, may cause pain that settles within a few hours. Bloating, gas, or indigestion can also lead to cramping or discomfort that doesn’t need treatment.
But pain in one specific spot may point to a problem with an internal organ. Even if it passes, severe or ongoing pain should be checked by a doctor.
Abdominal pain can be due to something minor, but it can also be a sign of something more serious. If it feels unusual or worrying, don’t wait. Get it checked.
How does the blood test work?
The blood test is carried out at the same appointment as your ultrasound scan, so everything is completed in one visit. The clinician will ask you a few basic questions and then take some blood from a vein in your arm. We will then send this to the lab for analysis. The time taken for results is specified on the individual blood test pages.
You can view your results on the web portal (provided by email) or by downloading the Forth app.
Do I need to prepare for my blood test?
For the most accurate results, schedule your blood test in the morning, ideally within three hours of waking, and fast for 4-6 hours before your test. We can still complete your blood test if you book outside this window, but it may affect your results. To get accurate results for cortisol, the sample should be collected at 9am.
Drinking water is encouraged. Staying well hydrated helps make the blood collection easier. On the day of your appointment, wear a loose-fitting top so your arm is easily accessible.
