Our Liver Health Package provides a comprehensive assessment of your liver and biliary system using high-resolution ultrasound, including elastography and UGAP to measure liver stiffness and quantify fat. Combined with a detailed blood panel to assess liver and kidney function, this package gives a clear picture of both the structure and function of your liver - ideal for anyone with concerns about liver health or seeking a proactive check.

Your Liver Health Package

Pre-appointment Questionnaire

Before your visit, you’ll complete a short health questionnaire to help us understand:

-Your health & lifestyle
-Any symptoms & risk factors
-Family history or concerns

This ensures your assessment is tailored to you from the outset.

Liver Ultrasound Scan

Attend our Farringdon clinic for a high-resolution ultrasound to assess the liver and biliary system, helping to identify structural changes and provide insight into liver health. In addition to traditional ultrasound, this also includes:

- Elastography: Measures liver stiffness to detect early fibrosis
- UGAP: Quantifies liver fat to assess for fatty liver disease

Targeted Blood Test

After your ultrasound scan, we will take a blood sample looking over 70 key biomarkers, including specific indicators of liver function.

Combined with your imaging results, this provides a comprehensive view of both the structure and function of your liver - all in a single, convenient appointment.

Follow-up & Next Steps

All of your results are reviewed by a consultant radiologist and brought together into a clear Liver Health Report.

You’ll then have the option of a follow-up consultation to discuss your findings, answer questions, and understand any recommended next steps or further investigations.

Liver Health:
What we check for

Liver Ultrasound A liver ultrasound is a non-invasive scan that provides high-resolution images of the liver and biliary system. A liver ultrasound can help show:

-Fatty liver disease
-Signs of liver inflammation or cirrhosis
-Liver cysts, lesions and tumours, including cancers
-Biliary obstruction & gallstones
-Abnormal liver size or structure
-Abnormal blood flow to and from the liver
Elastography Elastography is a specialized ultrasound technique that measures the stiffness of the liver, helping to detect early fibrosis or scarring before symptoms appear. It provides valuable insight into liver health beyond what standard imaging can show.
UGAP UGAP is an advanced ultrasound method that quantifies the amount of fat in the liver, helping to assess for fatty liver disease and monitor changes over time. It gives a clear, objective measure of liver fat in a quick, non-invasive scan.
Comprehensive Blood Test A comprehensive panel that provides a detailed picture of your overall health. Analysed in an accredited UK lab, it measures over 70 key biomarkers across 13 health categories to help you understand your body and identify potential issues early. It can help assess:

- Heart Health:
cholesterol, triglycerides, HbA1c, inflammation
- Liver & Kidney Function: enzymes, proteins, metabolic markers
- Bone & Muscle Health: calcium, vitamin D, uric acid
- Tumour Markers: PSA (M) and CA-125 (F) as standard
- Nutrition & Immune Function: vitamin B12, ferritin, immune cell counts
- Metabolic & Mental Health: thyroid hormones and metabolic markers

FAQs

What symptoms are associated with liver problems?

Liver issues can often develop without obvious symptoms, especially in early stages, but common signs to watch for include:

Persistent fatigue or weakness

Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)

Abdominal pain or swelling, especially in the upper right side

Unexplained weight loss

Dark urine or pale stools

Nausea or loss of appetite

Swelling in the legs or ankles

Itchy skin

Even if you don’t have symptoms, a liver health assessment can provide reassurance, detect early changes, and help guide proactive steps to protect your liver.

When should I see a doctor about liver problems?

You should see a doctor promptly if you notice any persistent or unusual symptoms such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), abdominal pain or swelling, unexplained fatigue, dark urine, pale stools, or sudden weight loss.

Even if you have no symptoms, it can be wise to consider a proactive liver assessment if you have risk factors such as a history of fatty liver, high alcohol intake, obesity, diabetes, or a family history of liver disease. Early assessment helps detect problems sooner, guide treatment if needed, and provide reassurance when results are normal.

What happens after I book?

After you book an appointment, you will be sent a pre-appointment questionnaire to complete, focusing on your current health, lifestyle, and any risk factors that may be present. We will then see you in our Farringdon clinic at your selected date and time for your scans and blood test.

How do I get my results?

During your appointment, your consultant radiologist will discuss the liver ultrasound findings with you in real time. You’ll also receive a full written report via email within 24 hours.

Once all results are finalised, you can book an optional call with one of our consultant radiologists to review your full report, provide clarity, and discuss any recommended next steps.

How long does the appointment take?

Your liver ultrasound scan, including elastography & UGAP, and blood test are usually completed within 45 minutes, allowing you to get a comprehensive assessment in a single visit.
