The skin is thoroughly cleaned, and a local anaesthetic is first injected to numb the area. The needle is then guided to the bursa under ultrasound guidance for accuracy. Once the correct position is confirmed, the steroid is administered. The procedure typically takes just a few minutes and is generally very well tolerated.
