FAQs

What does a steroid injection involve?

The skin is thoroughly cleaned, and a local anaesthetic is first injected to numb the area. The needle is then guided to the joint, bursa, or tendon under ultrasound guidance for accuracy. Once the correct position is confirmed, the steroid is administered. The procedure typically takes just a few minutes and is generally very well tolerated.

How can a steroid injection help?

It can reduce inflammation and swelling, easing pain and improving movement.

What are the symptoms of elbow arthritis or bursitis?

Pain, swelling, or stiffness in the elbow. Olecranon bursitis may cause a soft lump at the tip of the elbow that can be tender or red.
