What does a coeliac blood test look for?

The blood test looks for a specific marker called Tissue Transglutiminase IgA, an antibody present when someone with coeliac's disease eats gluten. This is the bodies auto-immune response in action, causing this anti-body to be released in response to eating food containing gluten.

While this test is a highly specific, and sensitive (>90%) screening tool for coeliac disease, sometimes a GP may refer for additional investigation, but we can write the referral letter to help this process.

Have you got persistent bloating, abdominal pain or issues with your pelvic health?

When booking, you can optionally add an abdominal & pelvic health scan by a specialist consultant who can look at your liver, kidney, gallbladder, spleen and pancreas, in addition to your reproductive organs (Friday appointments only)
